Seville has reaffirmed its commitment to Padel. From October 14 to 18<\/strong>, the Ic\u00f3nico Sports & Social <\/strong>Club<\/strong> hosted the FIP Gold Ciudad de Sevilla<\/strong>, an event that featured a prize money of \u20ac50,000 <\/strong>and brought together prominent figures from the circuit, including the very protagonists of the women’s final, in which Julieta Bidahorria<\/strong> <\/a>and Virginia Riera<\/a><\/strong> defeated Luc\u00eda Sainz<\/a><\/strong> and Letizia Manquillo<\/a><\/strong> 6-3,<\/strong> 6-4<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

It has not been the first time that the Ic\u00f3nico Sports & Social Club<\/a><\/strong> has had its name listed on the international 20×10 calendar. In 2025, coinciding with the year of its inauguration, the Seville-based club made a grand debut with the hosting of a FIP Platinum, the highest category on the secondary professional circuit. One year later, it has returned for another tournament, this time a FIP Gold (the immediately lower category), but no less exciting for that reason. <\/span><\/p>\n

And it lacks no arguments. The largest Padel club in Seville<\/strong> has 15 courts <\/strong>\u2013 12 indoor and three outdoor \u2013 and facilities worthy of a high-level competition. Added to this were an exceptional atmosphere and exemplary organization that knew how to respond to weather difficulties, especially during the quarterfinals and semifinals, when the rain threatened to disrupt the progress of the tournament. <\/span><\/p>\n

Fortunately, the women’s final was not affected, and at 5:30 PM local time, the four players met on the main court. On one side of the net were Luc\u00eda Sainz<\/strong>, former world number one<\/strong>, and Letizia Manquillo<\/strong>, a 20-year-old player who has already won six CUPRA FIP titles this season.<\/strong> On the other side were the Argentinians Julieta Bidahorria <\/strong>and Virginia Riera<\/strong>, selected to represent their country<\/strong> in the upcoming Padel World Championship<\/strong>, scheduled for November. <\/span><\/p>\n

The first set started evenly, until in the fourth game, Bidahorria and Riera found their first break point and did not waste it. The Spaniards responded in the seventh game, recovered the lost serve, and seemed to get back into the fight for the title. However, the Argentine response was immediate: a counterbreak and, immediately afterwards, closing the set 6-3<\/strong>. <\/span><\/p>\n

The second set maintained uncertainty until the final moments. The decisive opportunity came in the ninth game, when Bidahorria and Riera managed a break that put them at 5-4, one step away from closing the match. The victory, however, did not arrive without a minor scare: a leg discomfort forced Bidahorria to temporarily leave the court to put on an elastic band before returning and sealing the final 6-4.<\/strong> <\/span><\/p>\n

With this victory, each champion will pocket \u20ac3,125,<\/strong> corresponding to the equitable distribution of the \u20ac50,000 prize money between the female and male draws.
