On Saturday 12 September, the Philippe Chatrier court hosted the semi-finals of the 2026 Alpine Paris Major , a day marked by the intensity of top-level competition. The final session featured a nail-biting clash between Galán and Chingotto and the number six pair, Di Nenno and Navarro, who came close to causing an upset. However, the biggest upset of the day came courtesy of Martina Calvo and Claudia Fernández: two promising young players who, with solid and intelligent play, knocked out the top-ranked pair and set a historic record by becoming the youngest pair ever to reach a Major final.

The first match of the day couldn’t have got off to a more thrilling start. Sofia Araújo and Marta Ortega, who had caused a major upset in the women’s draw by knocking out the second seeds, Paula Josemaría and Bea González, in the qualifying round (2-6, 7-6 and 7-6, in 3 hours and 14 minutes), were determined to repeat the feat, this time against the number three seeds, Ari Sánchez and Andrea Ustero.

The ‘Lupitas’ got off to a flying start, playing in perfect harmony and with great precision. Their quality of play, underpinned by seamless teamwork, brought the sport to life and captivated the crowd from the very first moment. The turning point came in the sixth game: breaking Sánchez’s serve proved decisive in securing a 7–5 victory in the first set of their first semi-final since they reunited as a pair at the P1 in Pretoria 2026.

However, Ariana Sánchez and Andrea Ustero, driven by the desire to turn their ninth consecutive semi-final into a ticket to their first final since Valladolid P2 2026, held their ground on court. They started the second set with determination and secured a break in the first game. With the pressure mounting on the Spanish-Portuguese pair – which led to a string of errors – the third seeds took the set 6–4. The third and final set was over in a flash. Break after break, Sánchez and Ustero clinched the match 6–1.

With this victory, Andrea Ustero has once again reached the final of the Paris Major, a stage she previously reached in 2024 alongside Delfi Brea. For Ariana Sánchez, this presents an opportunity to defend the title she won in 2023 and 2024 alongside Paula Josemaría.

Final result: Sánchez / Ustero (3) 5–7, 6–4, 6–1 Ortega / Araújo (5)

The ‘Golden Boys’’ winning streak in Paris remains intact. Since 2023, the year they began playing as a pair, the Paris Major has become a regular feature on their list of honors, and all the signs suggest that history could repeat itself this season.

After being knocked out in the quarter-finals of the Madrid P1 by Nieto and Yanguas, Coello and Tapia arrived in the French capital facing an imminent threat in the race for the RACE number one spot. However, neither the pressure nor the determination of the third seeds, Leo Augsburger and Juan Lebrón – who had not broken their serve since the Brussels P2 – managed to see them off.

In the opening stages, characterised by a back-and-forth exchange and a period of adjustment to the court, Augsburger and Lebrón created a break point against the number one seeds, but were unable to capitalise on it. The set remained evenly matched until the twelfth game, when Tapia and Coello – lethal on their first opportunity – capitalised on a lapse by the third seeds to take the set 7–5.

In the second set, Coello and Tapia made it clear why they are the number ones: they weren’t at their best, but even so, they managed to turn the match around with authority. They gave Lebrón no room for his transitions or Ausburger’s aggressive play, and a break in the sixth game was enough to seal a 6-3 victory.

Final result: Tapia / Coello (1) 7-5, 6-3 Augsburger / Lebrón (3)

The pair are young – in terms of age – and new to playing together – having made their debut in this season’s Pretoria P1; however, this is not the first time they have faced the world number ones, nor is it the first time they have beaten them. The difference is that, with this victory, Martina Calvo and Claudia Fernández have become the youngest pair to reach a Premier Padel Major final.

Calvo and Fernández needed matches and time on court to build up their rhythm and confidence after missing out on the Madrid P1 final (against Josemaría and González). In today’s match, they showed that they’ve regained their form. Despite several attempts by Gemma Triay and Delfi Brea to break their serve, the fourth seeds once again came out on top on court: they defended their serve well, attacked effectively and, with power and intensity, secured a break that allowed them to close out the first set 6-4.

In the second set, the pair – coached from the bench by Pablo Semprun – maintained their momentum and opened up a 5-1 lead. Triay and Brea tried to stage a comeback, but Fernández and Calvo gave them no chance: they closed out the set convincingly 6-2, thereby securing their place in the final of the year’s second Major.

Tomorrow, 13 September, the pair from Madrid and Navarre are set to play their third final together, facing the number three seeds, Ari Sánchez and Andrea Ustero, at 2.00 pm on the iconic Philippe-Chatrier court.

Final result: Fernández / Calvo (4) 6-4, 6-2 Triay / Brea (1)

The pair tasked with bringing the day’s action to a close on the 12th did not disappoint. Di Nenno and Navarro, who made a grand entrance onto the court to contest their first Major semi-final of the season so far, took on the number two seeds. And although the outcome was not in Lucas Centurión’s side’s favour, they leave with enough points to head into the Rotterdam P2 as the number four pair.

The player from Seville and the one from Ezeiza got off to a strong start, taking an early 3-0 lead. However, Chingotto and Galán reacted in time, levelled the score and turned the match around to take the first set 7-5.

The second set was a carbon copy of the first: Ale and Fede found themselves on the back foot once again, trailing 0–2. But Jorge Martínez’s charges turned the tide, winning six games in a row to clinch the set with a resounding 6–2 victory.

This result confirms that there will be a ‘superclásico’ in the Roland Garros final (not before 16:30). With 2,000 points at stake and the battle for the number one spot in the RACE still up for grabs, tomorrow’s match will mark the eleventh final of the year between the two pairs – and the 39th in their history.

Final result: Galán / Chingotto (2) 7-5, 6-2 Di Nenno / Navarro (6)
