Portuguese padel made a striking debut on Italian soil with a commanding display. In a rare head-to-head clash, two pairs of brothers faced off: Miguel and Nuno Deus against Lavdrim and Leotrim Krasniqui. The result was a masterclass from the Portuguese side, which ended in an unassailable 6-0, 6-0 victory.
At 5.00 pm, the Deus brothers took to the court at Salinella Mediterranean Park with determination and a winning mentality that was soon reflected on the scoreboard: 6–0 in the first set, with several games won to love and a breakneck pace that overwhelmed their opponents.
In the second set, the Portuguese remained in control. The only tense moment came in the eleventh game, when, whilst Miguel was serving, a momentary lapse led to unforced errors that almost cost them a break. However, a decisive set point dispelled the danger and secured them the final 6-0.
With today’s match, Miguel Deus made it clear that the injury he sustained in January 2026 – which kept him off the courts for more than five months – is now a thing of the past. “I’m 100 per cent back up to competitive pace,” as he told Pádel Información last July.
In less than 45 minutes, the Deus brothers secured their place in the quarter-finals, where they face a tough match against the French pair Yoan Boronad (ranked 167th by the FIP) and Timeo Fonteny (144th), the tournament’s eighth seeds.
